AI Ethics & Governance
We assess the impacts, ethical and legal risks of Artificial Intelligence systems, ensuring responsible and compliant governance.
In an era dominated by technological evolution and the expansion of artificial intelligence, the importance of ethical legal guidance is more relevant than ever. Thinking about the social impacts of technologies from the early stages of design and development is the best way to ensure reliable, responsible use in line with national and European regulations.
Many of the risks associated with digital technology can, in fact, be effectively mitigated from the design phase: it is not always possible to intervene when the product is already in use and the negative impacts have already manifested themselves.
It is in this context that GAIA, an innovative startup spinoff from the University of Macerata, was born, recognizing the need to integrate ethical-legal considerations throughout the AI system’s life cycle. The main objective is to ensure the design and use of AI solutions in a way that prevents and minimizes social, ethical, and legal risks.
Our cloud-based platform operationalizes a cutting-edge ethical-legal framework, the result of studies of the most up-to-date regulations and guidelines in the field.

University of Macerata spinoff
The University of Macerata (UNIMC), founded in 1290, is among the oldest universities in Italy and the only one with an entirely humanistic and socio-economic orientation. Its mission is to contribute to the development of people and society through the added value that the humanities and social sciences bring to the understanding of complex socio-economic and political issues from an interdisciplinary perspective.
